Building Churches - Literally
Trinity counts a $10,000 Mission Development Certificate (MDC) as one of its
major financial assets. MDC's are similar to certificates of deposits (CD's) sold by
most banks and other lending institutions but are obtained only from the Synod of
Alaska-Northwest of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The Synod uses proceeds to purchase land, build new churches and renovate
existing ones. Currently MDC annual yields to the investor range from 4.04 percent
for a six month certificate to 5.062 percent for a 36 month jumbo certificate.
For those of you able to afford a church investment consider pulling some of those dusty bills from under the old
mattress and invest in a MDC that will assist in developing Presbyterian churches in the Pacific Northwest while earning
some interest income for you. Additional information is available from the Seattle Synod office at 1-800-932-4156 or
